A couple of years ago I was in the market for a new car. I had a budget of $30000 and I wanted something that was fun to drive and would turn heads. I narrowed my search down to two cars: the Porsche 911 and the Chevrolet Corvette. I test drove both of them and I have to say that I was really impressed with the Corvette. It was fast it looked great and it was a lot of fun to drive. In the end I decided to go with the Corvette because I felt like it was the better value for the money.
Now I know that there are a lot of people out there who will say that the Corvette is not a true sports car because it doesn’t have the same pedigree as a Porsche 911. And I get that. I really do. But the truth is that the Corvette is every bit as good as the 911 and in some ways it’s even better.
For starters the Corvette is a lot cheaper than the 911. You can get a brand new Stingray for under $60000 which is a steal compared to the starting price of a 911 which is over $100000. And when you compare the two cars side-by-side it’s really not even close. The Corvette is faster it has more horsepower and it handles just as well as the Porsche.
But I think the biggest thing that sets the Corvette apart from the 911 is the fact that it’s made in America. And to me that’s a really big deal. I’m proud to drive an American car and I think that the Corvette is a true icon of the American automotive industry.
So if you’re in the market for a new sports car and you’re trying to decide between a Porsche and a Corvette I would highly recommend giving the Corvette a test drive. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by just how good it is.
