If you have a AAA membership you can use it for your friend’s car as well. Just call the AAA roadside assistance number and give them your member number and tell them your friend’s car needs help. They will give you authorization to use the service and dispatch a tow truck or other assistance as needed.
Of course you will need to be with your friend’s car when the assistance arrives so make sure they are okay with that before you call AAA. And keep in mind that your friend’s car may not be covered by AAA if it is very old or has other issues. But it is worth a try if they are in a bind and you have a membership.
