If your car has an automatic transmission you’re out of luck—you can’t start a car with a screwdriver. But if you have a manual transmission you can give it a try.
First find a screwdriver that fits snugly into the keyhole of your car’s ignition. If the screwdriver is too large or small it won’t work.
Next insert the screwdriver into the keyhole and turn it clockwise. If the engine doesn’t start try turning it counterclockwise.
If the engine still doesn’t start there’s a chance that the screwdriver is too big or small. Try another screwdriver until you find one that fits snugly into the keyhole and turns smoothly.
Once the engine is started remove the screwdriver and insert your key into the ignition. Turn the key to the “on” position and drive as usual.
If you’re having trouble starting your car it’s best to consult a professional. But if you’re feeling adventurous you can give it a try with a screwdriver.
