The world’s most expensive car for 2022 is expected to be the Rolls-Royce Sweptail. This one-off custom car was commissioned by an anonymous customer and is said to have cost around $13 million.
The Sweptail is based on the Rolls-Royce Phantom and features a dramatically sweeping rear decklid. It also has a unique rear window that wraps around to the sides of the car. The interior is trimmed in hand-stitched leather and features a custom champagne cooler.
The car was built by a team of Rolls-Royce designers and engineers over a period of four years. Only two people outside of the company are thought to have seen the car before its public debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy.
While the Sweptail is expected to be the most expensive car of 2022 it is not the most expensive car ever made. That distinction still belongs to the Lamborghini Veneno which sold for $4.5 million in 2013.
